I like the idea of poor-quality materials in my work, mainly as I can’t afford a lot of the expensive products needed in sculpture, but also as I enjoy the notion that what I use can be seen as commonplace in the world around us. I also like that a lot of what I’ve made can either be recycled or reused later down the line. Using these poor materials also makes me less anxious about experimenting and making mistakes, simply as they are cheaper to replace and waste. This point could also be extended to the food aspect of my installation, as any waste left can normally be fed to my housemates.
